Skimrr
A downloadable tool for Windows and macOS
Skimrr finds duplicate photos and shots that missed focus in a folder — nothing else, and nothing leaves your computer.
What it does
- Duplicates: exact copies via hash, plus near-duplicates (cropped, recompressed, lightly edited) via perceptual fingerprinting, with a similarity threshold you can adjust live.
- Blur: a sharpness score calibrated to each folder's own photos, so a soft-focus portrait against a blurred background isn't wrongly flagged.
- A local vision model reviews every duplicate group before you see it, and drops the matches that turn out to be different photographs.
Before anything moves
Every photo goes through a review grid first — nothing is touched until you say so. Deleted files go to a local, timestamped trash with a manifest: fully restorable until you empty it.
Formats
JPEG, PNG, HEIC/HEIF, WebP, GIF, BMP, TIFF, and the main raw formats (ARW, CR2, CR3, NEF, ORF, RW2, RAF, PEF, DNG…).
Privacy
100% local. No account, no telemetry. The app only touches the folder you choose. Only licence activation reaches the network — once, then roughly once a month.
Free to download, scan and review. A one-time licence ($19.99, up to 3 devices) unlocks moving files to the trash — get it at https://skimrr.com.
